Unto Ashes
The band was founded in 1997. Their highly original music is informed
by Medieval dirges, Apocalyptic Folk, Black Metal, Spining and Harvest
chants, and German Romantic sensibilities. Epic and exalted; claustrophobic
and suffocating; vital and menacing; glorious and impenetrable: Unto
Ashes is all - and none - of these.
Unto Ashes utilize a unique combination of Appalachian dulcimers, Persian
and African percussion, hurdy-gurdy, cello, French horn, acoustic and
electric guitars, keyboards, tamboura, drones, and bombastic drums.
Their signature vocals and vocal harmonies are simply exquisite, and
have been ranked alongside the best "Heavenly Voices" ensembles. Their
recordings and live performances are highly compelling; often hypnotic,
always powerful.
